Christmas: The Gift & The Curse!

While this time of the year is filled with Joy, Family, Happiness, etc.; this Holiday Season also has a way of bringing out the worst in People. I was reminded of this today when my friend Dunn informed me that his Wife was Mugged last night outside of their Condo.

Now imagine you just came home from Easton with about 10 bags cause you procrastinated and bought all your gifts at once for everybody this weekend and someone muggs you! No Way Julio….Ain’t Gone happen!

Here are some helpful tips to make sure you stay safe this Holiday Season:

• Shop during daylight hours. Ok, this is an easy one but very effective. I realize how busy we are and therefore it might not be possible to shop during the day. But, if you have a choice, please opt for daytime shopping.

• Avoid parking near vans. I'm sure 99.9% of the vans in the mall parking lot are completely harmless but, you don't want to take the chance of someone dragging you into their their Chrysler Town & Country.

• Always get your car key ready before walking out of the store. Hold your key in your hand as if it were a weapon, it might become one. You don't want to be fumbling through your purse looking for your keys while trying to remember where you parked your car.

• Don't make yourself an easy target. Be aware of your surroundings. Pay attention to what is going on around you. Walk with your shoulders back, your head held high, and your eyes forward.

• Shop with a buddy. It is more fun anyway and you get to spend some (productive) quality time with a friend. Not to mention, there is safety in numbers.

• Clean out your wallet, purse, or pocketbook. Remove unnecessary credit cards, debit cards, your Social Security card, and other unneeded documents that could compromise your identity if lost or stolen while shopping.

Stay Safe This Season; Have A Great Holiday…And Remember The Best Nation is Donation, so I wear a size 12 in shoes…LOL.

Cheers!
